Start10 v1.5 is Now Available!

Start10 v1.5 improves your Start menu experience
By integrating with Stardock's "Fences" App and more

Fix the Windows 10 Anniversary Menu With Start10
Bring back the familiar look of Windows on Windows 10 with v1.5 of Start10! The newest update also allows for full integration with Stardock's award-winning organizational app, Fences.

The Start menu in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update has an even more app-focused layout, less control for organizing, and smaller buttons.  Start10 provides users with a familiar Windows 7 style layout and offers additional customization with just a few mouse clicks.

Fences users can now enjoy that same organization within the Start menu itself. A desktop with many icons can now have those same icons sorted for easy access on the Start menu.

New in Start10 v1.5:

  • Integrate Fences and desktop icons into "All Programs".
  • Search results can be filtered
  • WindowBlinds tweaks
  • Bug fixes

May be a coincidence, but when I installed Start10 1.5 and rebooted, my boot files were damaged. Had to do a (successful) repair with a Win 10 Anniversary USB drive.

Just FYI.

I think just coincidence.  Start10 does not replace any OS files.

Had some strangeness when I updated Start 10 a bit ago. It took 15 or 20 seconds for the start area to populate, same thing for the hidden icons selector on the right side of taskbar. It also had all the icon names messed up. It has cleared up now so I am just watching it. All OK

That sounds normal for Windows 10 after a full reboot especially if you have an old fashioned spinning drive vs a SSD.  Windows has logged you in well before it is finished loading things which means anything that hits the disk gets massively lagged.

I did have this same issue.  Took me about 15-20 seconds for the start area to populate.  Things are working just fine though after that.

This seems to be a Fences issue.  It came with a 30 day trial for me, and I uninstalled the program, and then the problem was fixed.

Hi there,

Start 10  1.5 cannot install. I have object desktop current,

I have start 10 1.2 on Windows 10 upgrade after clean install on 8.1 and 935GB of available memory on my laptop.

NO viruses, or junk files.

Error message says I don't meet the minimum requirement: windows 10 and windows server2016.

Do I have to buy Windows server 2016 to be able to have Start???

Is this a glitch???

Help!

Right click on the installer exe and select properties and ensure there are no compatibility settings set.  I suspect Windows has helpfully set compatibility flags saying it is an earlier version in error (it does this sometimes)
