Custom Heightmaps STILL Broken!

At launch, it was possible to create and use custom heightmaps with your custom planets. Ever since at least 8 months ago, around patch 1.3, trying to use these custom heightmaps results in blank planets with no heightmap at all. This isn't a problem of file settings on save, either, since if you copy an existing heightmap and rename it to the same thing as what's in your [Mod]_ContinentDefs file, the game still won't use it. It's as if the game only allows you to use a default heightmap or randomly generate a new heightmap on custom planets every time you play the game.

Why has this been broken for so long?

I've been running through the same problems while trying to modify the game recently and I wanted to bump this post up to see if anyone had found out a way to make custom heightmaps work. I can make a background image for a planet, but the continents can't show up no matter what I try.

The heightmap I've made myself is located here.

And below would be a picture of what shows up in game so far :

From what I understand, the .dds files located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\Gfx\planets\custom_heightmaps are not as useful as the atlas.dxatlas located there. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way to modify it.

Anything new on that front from more experienced modders or people acquainted with the game creators?

There is a command you can use to force the game to load textures, I just forgot what it is, again :( (like cheat for the console)

Its not a console command, but a command thats similar to the cheat command for the exe to boot the console.

You really have a bad memory. In the past i have told you it is the /atlasgen command line flag ^_^ .

But Paul aka mormegil does warns against it, but heh what does he know about the game

Good news, the /atlasgen command line has worked perfectly. And only needs to be applied once.

Here are a few screenshots of my new, colonizable, Venus :

I'm not so satisfied about the colors yet, but that's another line of business.
