Roombas everywhere

I recently picked up a Roomba and am amazed at how far they have come.

Like many people, I followed the original release of the Roomba robotic vacuum it seemed kind of like a toy at the time.  No more.  It’s for real.

Right now, my office building spends about $1,600 a month on cleaning.  Now, vacuuming isn’t the main thing they do but it is a significant part of what they do.  It is tempting to just buy three high end Roombas (one per floor) and let them go and see if we could reduce our cleaning costs.

Roombas, and other devices like it, are the leading edge of the AI-based automation revolution that is starting.  If you aren’t scared, you should be. I know I am.

The company for whom I work once gave away one of those at a trade show.  What I didn't like about it was it had the capacity of a dustbuster.  In other words, not much.  Even if it did manage to cover the entire room where it's placed I can't see it picking up much more than some lint and fuzzballs.

There is no need to spend money on Roombas. Just make cleaning and maintenance part of every employees job description... They are all exempt employees, right ?... }:)

wait till they start putting wheels and chips on your other furnitures so they move out of the way for the roombas

^^^ Yes please update all Stardock: lead developers, engineers and Art leads to now be 'Sanitation Savy' and they must now clean not only their area but all adjacent employee areas. Thus cementing the idea of <adjacency bonuses>!

I have always found it strange that people will go to gyms and strain their otherwise worthless cosmetic muscles but don't have the energy to work around the house and yard.
