Patching old versions

Hello there, sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere, but I'm not sure if combing through 491 pages of threads will get me very far.

I purchased Sins of a Solar Empire on retail WAY back in the day and I was hoping to reinstall the game on my new computer. It installed fine, but I can't download any patches (because Impulse is no more, and the 'download updates' is linked to impulse). Is there any other way I can install the latest patches? (If it matters, I also got a physical copy of Trinity so I have up until Diplomacy in that regard)

Thank you for your patience.

Log into the Stardock Store website with the name/email of your old Impulse account (hopefully the one you're using now). If you had it on Impulse it sounds like you registered the game, so you can download the latest directly from Stardock store website.

That said, its worth mentioning that the latest version of Sins, Rebellion, is 75% off on steam right now due to the summer sale. Assuming you never got any of the expansions, you'll get the content from the two micro expansions, Entrenchment and Diplomacy, plus the Stand Alone Rebellion. Quite a lot of new stuff for $10, plus you'll get access to most of the major mods if you're in to that (the mods for Rebellion are a lot more comprehensive and polished than they ever were for Original Sins).

I seem to have misplaced my login for impulse (I used an old student email account which has since been deleted, meaning I can't even ask for a replacement email that way) so I can't log into the store that way. And I've been spending the last week trying to get in contact with support to fix that (different issue altogether) so I'm just going to assume that's a no-go.

I mentioned that I have a physical copy to Trinity (which included Entrenchment and Diplomacy, yay). So that would mean I'm spending $10 on Rebellion alone... but it also means I would never need to deal with this kind of garbage again... The Steam purchase INCLUDES Entrenchment and Diplomacy bundled in, right?

Yes. Rebellion is Original, Entrenchment, Diplomacy and more all rolled into one .exe. Oh and at least three DLCs have been released for it as well.

Sorry, I skimmed that last bit. :p

If you registered Trinity to a different account, or didn't register it but still have the key, you might be able to find it/register it and still get it on the Stardock store.

Rebellion includes all the content from Entrenchment and Diplomacy, yes. Unlike Trinity you can't go back and play just say Entrenchment or Original Sins without Rebellion, but you won't be losing out on any features you have now. And you'll get a lot more like more specialized subfactions, titans, corvettes, game modes, new maps etc.
