Impulse/Gamestop Uninstall Dead-end

Uninstall not possible

Hello All,

In around 2008, I installed the then active Impulse client so that I could buy Stardock games in digital format.  I live in Germany and was proud as an ex-Michigander to be able to support a Michigan-based software developer.

Later Impulse was no longer supported and sold to Gamestop where it morphed into the ill-fated Gamestop PC client for a nukmber of years. I transferred my licenses for my Stardock games to the Gamestop client and also bought other games on Gamestop (mostly Paradox stuff).

The Gamestop client also ceased to be supported a few years back and now I find myself in a difficult position.  I want to uninstall the games on my old Windows Vista machine but am unable to do so because a check program which runs during/before the uninstall requires that I have Impulse installed beforehand.  It then directs me to the Gamestop website where (of course) no such client exists.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get around this problem?  I want to perform a correct uninstall but am effectively blocked from doing so.

Thank-you, Sincerely,

Ray Fischer

They bury the link on their site since they no longer support it for new purchases, but it's here: http://www.impulsedriven.com/downloads/gamestopapp/pc

That said the app doesn't seem to be working at the moment (won't log in due to 404 errors). Unclear if they are having an issue or intentionally decommissioned it without an announcement. So if the check needs any more than it just being installed, you'll be better off using a third party uninstall tool.

Side note, any Stardock products you had should be available directly through the downloads page on our store site.
