Some 1.7 Feedback.

Greetings folks!

So I fired up a new game and I am really enjoying it. I am about 267 turns and in a very protracted war with the Drengin, Borg, and Krynn. All three DoW'd me and I am slowly able to keep my systems from being taken. The Ai is building ships to counter my ships. I prefer a beam/missile ship until I get to Huge then I make the 'tank/range' combo (escort/capital). The ai is fleeting up ships well and also I found I cannot simply take the techs I want in diplomacy as they are red to me. Well done!

The changes to module mass such as engines, sensors and life support are really making the game different. I can no longer stack 3 warp drives on a large frame without sacrificing something else. This makes ships more fragile, makes getting to the front take a lot longer. I really like it!  No more super ships of doom..yet. 

The game is stable and it definitely brings on the 'one more turn' feeling you get on a good 4x game.

Personally I like stacking engines and I love stacking Sensors even more. However I admit it is draging out the game which on an insane map I am 1/2 the way into Age of Ascension and I have only about 15-18% of the 'entire' map opened up. As soon as I found the two ai on either side of me then DOW'd me. Meh whatever they are handicapped as well as me but have some good production bonuses from being on Gifted. 


I will say that I saw the following and it made me very happy:

I am running beam+Missile combo ships with heavy beam defense and lite or no defense on other two. Ships have two engines. I SAW the Borg UPGRADE their SHIP in OPEN SPACE but out of range of my fleets and the upgrade COUNTERED my fleets which were Inbound. They were Missiles, some beams with heavy missile defense and lighter beam defense AND the movement went from 3 hexes (no engines) to 6 hexes! Granted I had slightly superior fleets so I won the next three battles but at the cost of 80% of the ships in those 3 fleets! 


^^^ Yes the Ai upgrades, Yes the Ai will counter your ships, Yes the ai fleets up much better, and if its not happening in your game then something is wrong.
