About your email practices

your email practices

[*edited for politeness.  I shouldn't have been so harsh with my words.  Thanks for your time on this...De*]

I install your trials, then get the usual confirmation emails.  The next day I notice there's an email saying I changed my email preferences.  I don't remember doing that, but I'm busy so I figure I must have checked off the usual "don't send me spam" emails.  Okay, I'll confirm.

Then the system says: "thanks! You'll now get all our [unwanted] promotional emails"

So I register an account to try and turn that off.  But your subscriptions page shows everything unchecked, I presume I have to wait for promotional emails to come in, in order to unsubscribe from them manually.

Thank you

De

You can manage mailing list settings on the account page: https://www.stardock.com/accounts/subscriptions

There's also an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every promotional mail which goes straight there for the address the mail was sent to, even if the address somehow doesn't have an account associated with it.

I believe every mail has a link at the bottom to change your email preferences?

It honestly sounds like you may have accidentally opted in to receiving mails (this is on the page you go to once you start a trial) and by clicking the button to confirm it you are acknowledging you wish to receive them.  I am not seeing what Stardock could possibly have done here as you seem to have taken actions to show you want them.

If you are unable to use the option to edit your subscriptions then please do contact support as they will happily sort this for you.

Thank you Kryo.  You were far more patient with me than I with the system.  I'm not sure what happened but should not have written so rashly.  Thanks for your time, De

Thank you Neil.  You were far more patient with me than I with the system.  I'm not sure what happened but should not have written so rashly regardless.  Thanks for your time, De
