Unable to load game

Hello I seem to be having problems getting to actually get the game to load. I am running windows 10 and have been for a while now with no issues.

I have managed to get the game to load and run 3 times only, all of these were in DX11. Never seems to run in 12.

The game gets to the initializing screen and fails there. I have a screenshot of what happens.

I have installed the game several times. Set the page file as requested. Reinstalled drivers for video card several times. R9 390. I have verified the games cached files as well.

As I said sometimes I can get the DX11 to load and start but 10-15% of the time only. Else it does this. DX12 always seems to error like this.

Thanks for any help

A couple of thoughts:

You mentioned your video card. Can you supply the details of the rest of your PC build?

An error reading a texture file could be a file corruption problem. You say you've installed multiple times. Does this include "removing local content" before re-installing? Also, right-click the game in your Steam Library, select Properties and go to the Local Content tab. There, click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

Good luck!

System information

Mother Board - Gigabyte  GA-990FXA-UD5

CPU - AMD FX-8350

RAM - Corsair 8gig 1600 XMP

Video Card - Gigabyte R9 390 G1

Power Supply - Corsair TX850M

I have window 10 64bit running on a SSD and 2 SSDs for games. Mass storage is on an HD.

I have uninstalled the game (delete local game files) and reinstalled twice to verify that was not the issue. I have verified the game cache several times. Come back ok.

The game does run sometimes but very infrequently.

Thanks for the help please let me know if there is anything else I can do to answer questions.

Well, the next recommendation is the old, standby, shotgun approach. And, if you did the Win10 upgrade you DEFINITELY want to doublecheck you have the latest drivers, anyway!

1) make a verified backup of your data

2) check motherboard's mfr site for latest BIOS, chipset, audio, and network drivers for your OS & install as needed

3) I'm not an AMD guy, so check on that GPU to see if it has any BIOS updates and, of course, the latest AMD drivers for your OS

From there I'd run burn-in/benchmark apps such as Prime95 for the memory and 3DMark to work the graphics and CPU a bit. There are many others out there. I'd also run whichever the latest DX11 benchmark is. Run all of these on a loop for an hour or two. Best part is you get some benchmarking done so you can compare future upgrades.

BTW, do the DX11 and DX12 AoTS benchmarks run reliably?

Good luck!

I thank you for all of your help.

When I was trying to figure out all of the information about motherboard and ram I used CPU-ID and found that my ram was not running at the proper speed. I had the bios on the board set to auto for ram. It was running at 667 and is supposed to be 800. I changed the setting to manual and set the ram properly. Also set the cas timings to what they are supposed to be. Was all wrong. All of the timing were set slower than what the proper timings are supposed to be.

Long story short I set it all properly and have not had a problem running the game since.

Again thanks for the help.

P.S. Now that I have it all running well this game totally rocks. Looks and plays amazing. No shutter or slow downs at all.

Awesome!

If your BIOS can save copies of configurations, I'd have it make a copy. Otherwise, get some kind of document that delineates your BIOS settings that work and PRINT IT OUT for use when the PC won't even boot!

Enjoy the game, you're right!
