Sub menus program titles show "Empty" when clicked on

I seem to have a problem with my Start 10 program. When I click on "All Programs" it shows me a list of all the software titles. But where the title is the name of the software supplier the sub programs are not listed ie MICROSOFT OFFICE does not show the sub progs like WORD or OUTLOOK. I have many programs from the software supplier ASHAMPOO and under this heading it does list the seperate programs but when I click on the sub program it says "Empty" and does not do anything. This is also the case on many of the other software supplier headings, it shows there are sub programs but when you click to start on the name It says "Empty" and nothing happens. Is there any way to populate the "empty" entry with the shortcut to the program or should it be automatic when the Start 10 program is installed.

If it shows empty it means the folder is indeed empty or empty of shortcuts at least.  You can check this by right clicking on the all programs button and using the menu options for looking at the folders in explorer.

This is common with the startup group for example.

If this is not the case please contact support@stardock.com so they can investigate further why it is not populating things correctly on your computer.

You are indeed right and the folder referred to in the Microsoft Office heading is empty of any short cuts.  I have copied shortcuts into the relevent folder and they do now appear on the start menu under the correct heading.  That kinda explains one thing, but I still have installed programs with headings and sub menus which show as empty. So am I to assume that Windows 10 has lost all my shortcuts or is hiding them.   Plus there are programs installed for which no heading appears in the start menu.      When I first installed Start 10  everything was there and working fine.   It is only over the last week that I have noticed that program entries and headings are missing.

So if it is a Windows 10 thing and I suspect it is then perhaps the Start 10 program needs a facility whereby you can add your own shortcuts to the start menu if they are not picked up automatically.

Since updating to Win 10 Build 10576 (Insider Fast Ring), the Universal Applications group is empty in Win 7/Modern style under v1.02

I have found that if I re-install  the apps that have headings which show as "empty" when clicked,   the main title is the re-populated and the start menu for that heading works as normal.   As I said previously I believe this is a bug in Windows 10 and not the Start 10 program.

This is the main reason why I purchased Start 10.after reading the attached quote from the Win 10 forum.. All was well after installation until they disappeared from Start 10 also.

The issue seems to affect people with more than 512 apps in their "All apps" list. To tell whether you're one of them:

  1. Bring up the Start menu and search for Windows Powershell
  2. Run Windows Powershell
  3. Run the command "Get-StartApps | measure" (without the quotes) in the command window

If you see a number larger than or equal to 512 you are affected by this issue. We are working on a fix to this issue.]
