Kudos to GalCIv3 for no Espionage

I want to compliment Stardock for omitting espionage from GalCiv3.  No only is the idea of interstellar. inter-species espionage completely ludicrous (beyond intel gathered  by electronic means or salvage), it seriously imbalances the game against the AI. I understand that it will be added later via a DLC for those who want it, which is fine. That is one DLC that I will never buy. I think that the decision to make the base game without espionage was absolutely brilliant, as is the decision to allow those who want such silliness to be able do get it via a DLC. Everyone gets what they want.  Well done!

I for one like, and use espionage.

The problem with espionage in many games is not that it isn't useful, it often just doesn't enhance the gaming experience.  That's at least how I felt about GC2's system.  The devs have said they want some new and exciting, but they also had big plans for the combat and that didn't really come through, particularly planetary invasions.  Very much a wait and see.
