Ultra Terraformer
Why was this removed and is there a mod so I can get it back?
It caused balancing issues. There is a mod (I think) but I couldn't tell you where it can be found.
Can anyone explain what the issues were? It seemed fine to me.
1 Alterians did not get it.
2. People chose greed and waited to terriform until they got it so they could maximize terriforming. this was never the intent and it created a "race for X tech" that the devs didn't like.
I think it wasent really greed but min-maxing imo this type of game attracts players who are good at getting the most they can out of a system
in this case the best result was from holding off on terraforming until the last possible tech then terraforming.
So from a reasonable terraforming system in Gal Civ 2 to a garbage system and now an absolute crap tier system. Aren't games supposed to get better with each iteration? How is this better?
Well Age of Wonders gets better with each iteration. Age of Wonders 3 with all it's DL's is IMOH the best 4x game out there. So yes there are games that still do.
The problems with GC3 I think stem from not taking what worked well in GC2 and applying them to GC3 then enhancing them. But then GC2 had it's growing pains so I think SD will get GC3 up to snuff to where it will be a game to be loved like GC2 was.
Rather than remove it, they should have just re-added the color shading...
First level teraformalble spots are shaded light blue
2nd level = teal
3rd level = green
4th level = yellow
5th level orange
max level = red
the Altarians should have been given a few things like the biosphere manipulator that would terriform any three or four adjacent tiles... any tiles.. this would probably in the end be more powerful than the ultra....
