Tutorial & Campaign won't start

Has anyone else experienced this and perhaps found a solution?  I had not played this in a while (since before 1.2 release) and went to re-load a save game. This would not progress past the 'generating map' load screen.  I assumed this to be a compatibility issue with the save so decided to start the tutorial again from scratch. Same thing occurred though.

So then I started a new campaign, and again I get the spinning galaxy and the 'generating map' message, but never progresses to the game.  At this point I uninstalled and re-installed thinking I had an issue.  After re-installation I tried again with the campaign and the tutorial and again neither load.  However I can start a new game without issue, so this is clearly tied to the tutorial and campaigns specifically. This means I will have to learn in a real game, no big issue, but I would like to know if I can get the tutorial or campaign working again. 

Anyone seen this?

I am having the exactly the same problem.   I recently upgraded to Windows 10.   I was wondering what I can do to fix it?

It's been a while since I read it but I believe SD said that unchecking the Use Mods box in settings would fix this problem. If that's not it then I am unsure.
