Automate Snapshots

Hi Folks - I am a pensioned computer geek from Utrecht, The Netherlands, from where The Tour De France started yesterday and is now on its way to the province of Zeeland and Belgium and ultimately to Paris' Finish by end of the month.

Regularly I find myself having forgotten to update my Fences Snapshots and, since my two-screen wide desktop is loaded with icons and links, this can be dangerous.

So - how could I automate taking Snapshots say, once a day?

Every month or so I could then delete the oldest 20 or so entries and the process would keep everything safe.

Anyone have an idea how I put this to work?

Perhaps from Windows Task Scheduler?  But how would Task Scheduler address the Snapshot function?

Through a CLI if there is any?

Anyone have a suggestion?

Looking forward

IsaacTheo

See this article, you want to check the option "Automatically take daily backup snapshots (most recent 3 days will be kept)" showing in the 2nd image:

Right click your desktop. Choose "configure Fences".

Click the "Layout and snapping" link on the left side of the window.

Make sure there is a check mark in the box to automatically take daily backup snapshots. This only keeps the most recent 3 days though.

Check video if needed.

Hi all - thanks you for your responses.

Beginning of 2013 I was tempted to move over to Fences 2.0 - and it kept crashing Windows Explorer.

I reverted to Fences 1.0, got our refund and that's the one on our machines and we never looked back since Fences 1.0 is doing exactly what is should and no bother.

The functionality I was looking for is apparently readily available in Fences 2.0 si we'll give it a new try and see how stable it is on our range of Vista, W7 and W8/W8.1 machines.

Do you find any instability in the current version of Fences 2.0?

I will let you know how we go.

Regards,

IsaacTheo

I use Windows 8.1 exclusively. Fences 2.13 works exactly as it should here.
