Request for stardock

Please can we have the excel sheet you generate the tech trees from. I have a great idea for a new faction but they need a very different tech tree and modding it purely in the xml is painful. I know you've mentioned you might make this available before.

The motion is passed, all are in favour!

Its coming eventually, they just need to make it more user friendly and make it in a way that won't break the base game :)

Yes, good modding tools for as many things as possible please. User friendly and easy to work with and understand is incredibly important. :)

I request more generic tech trees for custom civs.  Things that are built around different playstyles or types of creatures.  That will give us more options for multiplayer.

They are going to get Steamworks out first so you can share such mods. It may be with the update in June when we will see the XL for modding the tech tree.

No real need to delay this I'm happy to accept it on the basis it's an internal tool not designed to be user friendly I can always enhance that side of it myself. The alternative that I'm seriously considering if I can find the time is to create my own JAVA utility to do it. But given how little time I have that might take a while and I'd rather spend anytime I have modding.

I would LOVE modding to be easier. Probably isn't going to even be considered but meh. At least we know Stardock do everything they can.

I'd recommend just waiting until they release the Excel sheets. Paul showed some of the different sheets to me, and they seemed super effective, especially the tech tree one. They might need a bit of cleaning up and polish (I only saw the tools, didn't use them). Considering 1.1 isn't too far off (And IIRC Paul said the excel sheets would come with or around 1.1 in one of the dev streams), creating your own software would probably be futile since it'd be replaced almost as soon as you finished it.
