4k Monitor recommendations..

So I saw Paul's set-up on one of his interviews. He mentioned he uses an older 4k Monitor. My system uses a single GTX 970. I have a couple non gaming questions.

 

For single monitor use will a single GTX 970 (4g) be enough for a 4k Monitor?

 

I would really like at least 27" or 30" (larger is ok), Does anyone have a recommendation on one?

 

I am going to upgrade my entire rig and get an I7 5930K and 16gigs of DDR4 but that will be AFTER I get a nicer monitor.

You will want to wait until display port 1.3 monitors show up which should be in a couple months.

Ah ok. Diplay port 1.3. That would carry both sound and video on the same line, similar to HDMI.

The selection of 4k monitors is a real dog.

 

You can get small ones at a decent price, but if you want more real estate, a 4k monitor at 27 inches is a waste for anyone without fantastic vision.  Reasonable size ones for not increasing the icon size, etc, are very pricey at present.  If you just want a higher resolution image and you're not after more real estate, then yeah, wait for the new display port.  Right now people are having issues with image tearing and whatnot because of insufficient connections.
