[MOD] GalaxyMapGenMod

(Updated 8/7)

GalaxyMGM features 4 new custom scripts for completely new looking galaxies. Ranging from the well loved 'Big and Small' from the Civilization series,'Isolated', and the plain weird 'Geometrics' script, it should have something for everyone looking for a fresh galaxy to conquer. It will replace the old Scattered, Clustered etc. options in your map generation menu, but hopefully that isn't too big of a loss. There are two versions, one packed with some extra planets for your stars and a slightly bigger large map, and one vanilla for compatibility with possible other mods. I recommend the complete package if you want to test the Isolated starts though.

Map scripts:

Big and Small: Consists of a few big galaxy clusters, and several small ones, and some stars sprinkled in between. Hopefully should be close to the vanilla experience you all know, feedback appreciated, especially regarding the total number of stars vs planets if you are using the light version.

Isolated: The long sought after start where you at least can have some time in peace before your neighbors start invading you and creating a mess. Perfect for the peaceful minded. The script creates 6 roughly equal galaxies spread all over the map, with the possibility of a few loner stars sometimes.

Road to Domination: It's a snake! Yes, this script creates one long galaxy crawling through the map, sometimes even eating it's own tail. For the ones getting lost while conquering neighbors. Just one way, all the way to domination.

Geometrics: Triangles, Squares, Crosses, circles, this script have them all. If you love weird shaped galaxies, this is the script for you.

This is mainly meant to get going some mapmaking, feel free to use it as a template for your own stuff. Just head into the mod and start editing the template.dds file to create a galaxy map. Sadly it's capped on 4 options due to modding restrictions, so can't keep the default ones, or add more.

I see that you added in multiples of the map types. Like Isolated, Isolated 2, Lonely, Lonely 2, ect ect... Are these different map templates, like Isolated.dds is configured differently then Isolated2.dds or is its just parts that are needed for the Isolated Map script to work?

It's just more of the same type of the map, so there is some randomness involved when starting a new game, and you won't end up with the same map over and over. I would have liked more randomness scripting, but this is what I could do with the tools at hand.

When I get this thing a bit more developed, there should be tons more of maps to explore so you won't see the same thing a lot.
