Sound Effects Stopped Working
All the sound effects in my game stopped working after a couple hours of playing. The music still works but I have no in game sounds even after restarting the game.

Have similar problem with sound effects distorting weirdly and quite severely, especially on transitions between game screens. Like colonies or Diplomacy screen.
I would try to re-validate the game cache in Steam. I have a similar Problem as the OP but after the verification at which 2 files were re-acquired, the issue was resolved.
To me toggling the music button on and off in the sound menu fixes this problem, but if restarting does not help your problem may be more severe.
The thing is: The sound effects are only not working in that save file and it only happened after about 300 turns. If I start a new game the sound effects work. I don't know if the problem will happen again after that many turns.
I'm having the same issue, unresolved.
Definitely having this issue, mainly the UI sound effects is what i've noticed.
Same here. It seems to be related to the number of turns. loading up a previous save game, UI and general sound effects work fine UNITL I save that game again and then load it up. Sound effects do not work. Music is still there. Reboot, turning SFX and / or Music on / off in options has no effect either. Very frustrating. I am going to quit playing until they get this fixed as it totally ruins the experience. I know, there's no sound effects in space anyhow but "silent" space battles are just boring.
Having the same issue. Will try verifying the files with Steam as a previous poster suggested.
Edit: Verifying the files found 2 missing files. However, this did not solve the sound issues.
Still unable to hear any sound effects especially while using the UI. Makes for an eerie, dull experience while playing.
