Will space monsters eventually be added?

Since I began following this is EA I've been hoping something would be said about having space monsters as an eventual feature. It would seem that ship captains are coming soon, which I think might be made to work very well with space monsters as they would be something for captains to hunt and collect bounties on as quest rewards.

Mainly what I'm picturing here are enormous creatures along the lines of the ship-eating Budong from Farscape, the Crystal Entity from ST:NG that hovers over a planet and steals away some population... though ideally there would be a variety of sizes and behaviours. Lesser types could be free roaming in the early game, while others might be relatively passive and hide within nebulae and asteroid fields. If your civ posseses the right tech and ideology, they might even offer to join you.

Anyway, my first post here and just been wondering about these.

Thanks!

Could someone please tell me if setting up a custom game for the purpose of checking these out is a fairly simple matter? Like, in order to set it up so that I would encounter space monsters very early on, would I simply adjust a few settings or have to edit an xml file? Would the editor dlc (which I don't yet own) let me create a map with a space monster skirmish of sorts, like my battlefleets vs. a whole bunch of monsters already placed that I could engage right away?

Thanks for the replies. :)

I wonder if anyone has ever posted images of them anywhere. Haven't been able to find anything yet.

What kind of attack/defense do they have?

Here is a screenshot of a close view of them.  Since this is a still picture, it doesn't show the excellent animation they have.  When you see them, be sure to zoom in for a good look.

You shouldn't worry about them too much.  They don't do much unless you get too close to them.  They're just babes.  Really!  Also, the shipyard just sits there doing nothing.  Once you get rid of the three monsters you have nothing to worry about.

That's awesome, Old-Spider! Thanks. :)

Btw, I purchased the map editor and Snathi dlc's. I am mainly excited by the editor but am pretty stumped by it so far. Is there a guide somewhere that just explains how to make a simple custom map? Like how do I place a couple of ships and planets, assign them to a specific race, basic stuff like that?

Weren't there space monsters in GC2?  I hated them because they had millions of hp, and killed my fleets all the time!  I wouldn't mind if they didn't show up until later in the game, or scaled up as the factions do.

Loved the space monsters in GC2. And the whole point of fearing them was that they could pop up at any time especially when your not ready.  I hope they put them in and do not put restrictions on when they show up.

The only restriction appears to be that they will not show up before Turn 80. There might have been something similiar in GC II, but I couldn't say as they weren't in TotA, which is the version of GC III I played.

There were no space monsters in GC2, but in GC1.

I might be thinking of the Dreadlords coming back into the galaxy and blending it with memories of GC1.
