whom ever takes the time to help would be appreciated

Can someone please answer this question

Hello all,

I'll be the first to admit that I bought Desktop Objects and Star Docks on a friends suggestion. We wanted to have something we could work on together. Unfortunately the programs outlasted our friendship :(

I have been playing around with Windows blinds, I have never liked the default windows graphics. I have the latest version that my license allows me to use and the idea of changing the way my desktop looks like is a good thing for me but I run into the same issues I run into with out using Windows Blinds. for an example, I have always wanted to change how Outlooks "Looks" so I try to make some changes and what I run into with or without StarDocks programs.

The middle area  where the  email title, and their name email and who sent it. That can help you figure out who it was from.

That area where all of the above info is doesn't change, it just stays white no matter what skin I tried to use. that whole area stays white.

Any help would be appreciated..

Could you please post a screenshot of your issue. Thanks.

MS Office programs have always been hard, if not downright impossible to skin well, if at all. I'm not sure of the reasons.

I'm am sure about one thing though, if LightStar can't help you, it can't be skinned. He knows SkinStudio better than anyone I know of.

You have asked this question before and I will give you the answer, you can either accept it or keep asking. It cannot be skinned so you will just have to put up with the middle section being white. Here is the post where he asked the question. The answer which was given by gmc2 does not work for the middle section. It did make some changes to background color on the side panels but not the middle section. https://forums.wincustomize.com/463655/page/1/#3538840

There are only to windows you can change in outlook 2010.

I can't be sure exactly what you are asking and you didn't post a screen shot as suggested.

With outlook opened you click on the inbox - drafts - sent items, etc. The names of the people who sent you email show. Now you click on a name in that window and it shows on the main window to the right. The color of those windows as mentioned are controlled in the color section  in SKS changing the "Window Background" color. That is all that can be changed. No menus, nothing else.

Do remember changing this color also controls and changes other windows used.

Unless I am totally misunderstanding he is talking about the message window which for me is the middle window in outlook 2013.

Ken I think you are correct but you are using 2013. I'm also talking about the message window and actually the one you show on the left that starts with inbox. What I said above applies to outlook 2010 which is what he stated he used in the previous post which you showed the link to. I didn't reply to this till you attached that link and I saw what he was running. As far as 2013 I'm sure you tried it and nothing can be changed. In fact I know you tey different skins and they all have different background colors. So if your 2013 never changes color then it doesn't get changed at all like it does with 2010.

Dave I think the 2 programs are similar. I am able to change the colors of the left and right panels, it is just the center panel that cannot be changed which is also what he says he cannot change.

I'm using Outlook 2007 and the center window color can be changed through SKS7 as previously mentioned in the other post referenced. I did amend that other post to indicate that it was a SKS response and not attributed to WB. Sorry for any confusion my answer may have caused.

OK so it must be the version of outlook because I cannot change outlook 2013 in Skinstudio 7. No misunderstanding gmc2. He must be using a newer version of outlook so hopefully he will chime in here and let us know.

This is how outlook 2013 looks after changing the window background in skinstudio. I changed the color to light grey. Notice that the center pane is still white.

there's no doubting you JC, but....

That is why I said it has to be the version of outlook in a previous comment. Now it could be that there are other color settings that will change it for the newer versions of outlook but I have not experimented.

It is the version of Outlook and Microsoft office from versions 2010 on everyone, and you cannot change the colors and several other things )like the titlebar text) thanks to Microsoft. If you design a WB skin to the best of your abilities, and an application doesn't skin correctly, it is more than likely that application. Nothing anyone can do. Exclude it from WB or just live with it is all you can do.

Yes, finally someone confirms what I have been saying. I use 2013 and I just tried changing every light color in SS7 and nothing worked so it has to be Microsoft's software.

Well, of course. I believed you however the OP neglected to identify the version they're using.

I know you did. I was not directing my comment at you. I was just saying that my theory was confirmed by Tom. In the other post that I gave a link to the poster mentioned he used 2010. I missed that too.

I'm not ignoring your request to post a screenshot of my problem. I just don't have a problem since I don't have much experience with WindowsBlinds. As stated I bought the StarDoc programs on a friends suggestion.

I just tried to apply a skin to "try" it just to see how my outlook would look like. The middle that shows your emails was still white and obviously wasn't adding a skin to all of outlook so I just undid the skin and when back to windows default. So I will try it again someday when I have time to try it and mess around with it so I understand it .

I will apologize for not posting a screenshot when asked but I had a few more things on my mind. Unfortunately I don't have the time to keep the forum open and answer every question or comment to my original post. It's funny that light Star was the one who didn't get all excited when I didn't reply to his request for a screenshot. I appreciate Your patience that I didn't get a screenshot, I posted and then got busy and didn't have the time to reply. thus that was why I replied to the post  from LightStar.

I'll be checking out for the rest of the weekend after this reply so please don't get upset if I don't reply to a post.

when I post to any forum no matter what the forum is or covers. It seems that ever forum has 1 or2 people who get thier panties in a wad if someone didn't do something they wanted. Seem that LightStar was the person who asked for the screenshot, he didn't get all upset that I didn't do what he asked. There were a few who got a bit offended that I didn't do everything to their liking.

It must be nice to have the time to be on here all the time and can respond right away, The couple of you who went on and on about me not posting a screenshot like LightStar asked and maybe something else I didn't do correctly.

So for the few who I seem to offend I am truly sorry for not doing what you wanted me to do within your time limit.

Sorry for asking a question that I had asked before. I guess all I can say is the older we get the more we forget and I had forgotten that I had asked this question or a version of the question before. I learned that from now on before asking a question the first thing I will do is go to "my posts" and look though them to make sure I didn't ask it before. I am sorry that I didn't look this time and asked the same question again. I can relate how a simple thing like asking a question that I forgot that I had asked it before can make others get irritated. My mother in law is suffering from the beginning stages of Alzheimer and when we visit she will ask the same question in 10 minutes about 5 times, our mind are very complicated and in a way I did the same thing on my post, I asked a question that I asked before without knowing I had. It amazes me that you knew I had unless you check each post to see if someone already asked it as in my case.   I'm sorry that I felt that I was being put on blast for something as simple as asking a question that I already asked and I took it the wrong way and I should have replied the way I did. So for how I replied I am sorry, as far as the double post all I can say is I didn't do it to irritate anyone. I just didn't think for one second that I had asked the question on a earlier date, the good that came from all this is now I will make sure I am not double posting by checking my prior post to make sure I didn't ask it already.

Sorry for the confusion and then my reacting on my "high horse" Sometimes we all need to get knocked off the high horse we are on and I got hit by a branch that didn't see........lol

Sorry again I hope this doesn't leave any hard feelings. Like I said in one of the post I bought both  Object Desktop and ObjectsDoc on a suggestion from a friend and I never really used it at all except fences I like that one. I will slowly try to see what the rest has for features and slowly try to use them and learn how they work. There is a lot about win 7 that I don't like how it is setup visually. I thought with these programs I could pick a windows theme amd then my who windows theme will change in look. I guess it doesn't quite work that way, I will do some learning and see which of the programs will help me and start to slowly checking them out.

Thanks

Ron
