How does one know?

When uploading works of art through the WinCustomize browser, how does one know if and when the upload even took place?

Check your user info...and click on 'my skins' and it should show up once you upload but it will be in the proverbial 'holding tank' until the moderators either accept or deny your work.

Good luck jake! And if your first try doesn't get accepted don't, DO NOT EVER give up!

Uhoh! I did,nt think they left the building. Well, I guess I got some more Zone Alarm tweaking to do. If anyone might have a suggestion that would help, please let me know.
It seems I can submit these posts OK, but when I try to submit a wallpaper, nothing happens.

jake11, what do you mean by , "I didn't, think they left the building?"

Also, I was late in asking but what are you trying to upload and in what format? Most files uploade to WC are in .zip format except for screenshots and previews which are uploaded as .jpg or .bmp

Don't give up...it's probably something simple you overlooked and don't feel stupid because not knowing about something new does NOT make you stupid.

I tried to upload a series of wallpapers 1 at a time. I used the browse button to select the .jpg preview, and then used the browse button to select a .zip bmp which contained 2 sizes.
When I hit the submit button there seemed to be a lot of commotion on my HD., but that was all. There was no change of any kind that I could tell beyond that.

Jake, you could send me your user i.d. email and pass and I could check for you (trust me, I have a life and wouldn't use it against you...). Or you could email one of the admins. Did you read the FAQ on this thread?

Jake: There are no wallpapers with your name on in the moderation area. I think you may need to re-upload. When you have filled in the relevant boxes and hit submit, there will be a period of time while the data transfers from your computer to the server here. When the data has been transferred, you will see a new page that tells you that the upload has been successful, and that you should expect to wait at least a day for it to show up in the newest additions, provided it makes it past moderation. How long it takes for your files to upload depends on the size of your files and the speed of your internet connection. If your files are really large, the upload may time out.
If you need any more help or advice, you can boxxi@ntlworld.com me.

Thanks again Shmoopy, but I believe my troubles lie in that Zone Alarm Firewall I am using. It seems that I can send plain E-Mails, but if I try to add a picture attachment, the E-Mail gets blocked for some reason.Perhaps the same principle is being applied in the uploading. If it is not ZA, then maybe it's my AVG anti-virus settings. So I think I have some checking to do first.
Yes I read all the FAQ's I could find, and no, although you seem to be quite popular on the message board, I think I will hold off sending my goodies to anyone until I get to know everyone a little better.
But, thanks for asking, as this is the very reason I chose to become a member of this site, everyone seems so helpful.

jake11 if you have xp operating system turn on your taskmanager, click net working tab, then click veiw button, in menu click select colums.then check bites received and bites sent.
Then press ok.Now click veiw button in menu click net work addaptor history anouther menu opens click bites receaved .repete last step and click sent. Now when you send something you can watch it on the taskmanager and see if you are sending, and see when you are done sending.
You will Know if you sent something.Try it with email first to get the Hang of it.

Moderator BoXXi, what say I send you an E-Mail with one of my zipped picture attachments that I was trying to upload, to see if it even leaves my Computer. You would'nt have to open it if you didn't want to.
Then you could simply post a reply here if it arrived yes or no.

thanks skinner Iben, but I am still running ME at 450mhz

I'm so happy
This morning I was able to upload my first work of wall art after much more tweaking of Zone Alarm Firewall - the Freebie, registered and upgraded. Also a good nights sleep was benificial.

IT ALL WORKS
