IconForge now available as a FREE download.

PC Plus, http://www.pcplus.co.uk/ , A British computer magazine is now making IconForge available as a free download. It's an older version (4.92, not sure what the most recent version is), but I thought that some of the artist's here might be interested in this. It might be a good way for people to be able to try their hand at icon making software without having to buy it first and then find out that they don't like it.

Anyway, you can read about it and download it here http://www.pcplus.co.uk/downloads/default.asp?pagetypeid=2&articleid=5840&subsectionid=362

It appears according to the article that the current version of IconForge is 6.

The 4.92 must be a somewhat older version as it appears to not have XP features.
But I bet it is still one hell of an editor.

The latest -> http://download.com.com/3000-2195-10128559.html?tag=lst-0-1

I might check it out just to see what it's like. I made a cursor way back that was so simple. I still have it through. It was just soemthing I messed with but I forget what program I used.

I forget how many programs I have on my computer. I have around 200Gigs of space filled. Dang freeware and shareware. I try everything. I think I'm going beyond what I wanted to say. I'll shut up now. :X

Download for free Ver 4.93 and purchase get a discount for the 6.0 version. I have Microangelo 5.5 and hardly use that. However free is free.

I've used MicroAngelo in the past, to whip up a couple of icons for an ISP and it was really easy to use.

I am going to look at Iconforge for anything in the future, as I used it so rarely that I couldn't justify the full version of MA

thats the one. MicoAngelo. I think Carlitus uses that or JamesT. That was the main reason why I thought I should check it out. I want to make XP icons as well as Mac, Windows 9x xystems, and for sites to show in the browser window when the page loads up.

Icons are so cool.

I've just IconForge in the past... wasn't impressed with it much to be honest.

Microangelo and IconWorkshop are the way to go in terms of icon design tools.
