Crashing at start

Help, can't start a game!

Just tried to restart a new game on 5.3.

I get to the race selection and other parameters like galaxy size, Etc...start the game and as soon as I click on anything at all...Ker Blammo, the game just exits so fast my head swims.

I checked and did the file verification thing, and it still crashes on start.

 

Is there any ideas about how I can get around this?

You said "restart".  Was this a game started on a previous beta?  That can cause problems, it's usually better to start a new game for each beta release.

If not, see this post, including the stuff at the bottom about opening a support ticket to report a crash.

Edit: Oh, never mind, I just reread your post, it was a new game.  See that link anyway.

After a lot of screwing around, and submitting tickets to them....I have discovered part of the problem.

It seems that I can play just fine as another race except Terran or the modified Terrans I created.  The only thing I can think of would be that I had custom ships like for instance..."The Chicken of Death"...I tried to play as the Altaran Race and it's going fine.  It has NOTHING to do with my Computer.  I also submitted this information yesterday to their support center....
