Starbase Request

I have a request for starbases...  It really bugs me the amount of constructors that I have to spend to upgrade the base...  Once that is done, the base just sits there...

Wouldn't it be awesome if starbases operated much like shipyards?

To be able to deactivate them, move them, and reactivate them?

That would add an AWESOME element to the game...

I know that it may seem like that will be OP, BUT, with the right drawback in place, I feel like it would be a fantastic addition to the game...

Here is my proposal...

Deactivating the starbase must take a full turn, in other words, you should not be able to deactivate a starbase and move it in the same turn...

After deactivating, the starbase should be able to move only 1 / turn...

Starbases should provide no bonuses of any kind when deactivated...

Starbases should not be able to occupy the same tile as any ships...

Starbases should not be part of any fleet...

Starbases have no defense at all when moving, so even the weakest ship can blow it up if they can get to it...

In order to reactivate the starbase, the starbase must not have moved during that turn...

The starbase will be Reactivated on the NEXT turn...

Please give feedback?  What do you all think?

PS:  It does make sense to have Shipyard movement done this way too...  Shouldn't it take a full turn to pack it up?  And Shouldn't it take a full movement point to deploy it?

I would think starbases would be structurally unable to move unless you got some sort or reinforcement tech for starbases. Even then the movement would be slower then shipyards IMHO.

If it is added later: then nice, but I do not see it happening.

It would be a nice "quality of life" improvement, especially for newer players. As it is, starbases eventually get area-of-effect upgrades, and there are a few instances that can cause a new planet to appear, that might make your existing starbase placement non-optimal. It would be convenient to make small adjustments, at the expense of lost effects (i.e. starbase bonuses during the time of movement).

I wouldn't mind a tech or something that allowed you to move a star base.

One tile per turn is very slow and the only way I can imagine wanting to move it is if a 1-2 tile relocation would increase it's effectiveness.

Re-positioning a star base is a realistic option and as such it is a reasonable consideration. Easy change as well.
