menus/icons missing

menus/icons missing

Hello:

I have two problems with Offworld: See image below. 1) When in the screen menus, the icons for the buttons are missing. 2) Also, if you switch to/from full screen, the buttons don't line up with the button names. In-game icons are also missing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and the problem persists.

Hello,

Are you still experiencing this issue after today's update? If so could you post your system and resolution information?

Also the image isn't showing properly for me, could you try reattaching or linking it?

Thanks,

Joel

Hello Joel:

I did some googling on the problem and found a registry entry change, which I did prior to the update. Apparently, the problem has to do with a really exotic compatibility issue with Inkscape, which coincidentally I had installed, but didn't use (I think if it wasn't installed, I might not have had the issue). I'm retesting everything after the update. I thought I spotted one new bug which wasn't there prior to the update, but only caught a glimpse, and am not 100% sure, but I thought I saw while the Silicon mine was moving into position, it had pixel lines "bleeding" below it. Either I didn't see this before the update, or am mistaken, but will keep trying it. There's also a balancing issue I think you guys know about - i.e. at one point in the game, you will have accumulated too much of everything, and can just sell it all at once and buy out all of the other companies. Also balancing issue in terms of energy - geothermal power is rare, solar goes out every night, and wind power generates too little energy. You can also do some weird stuff like colonize as robotic, then drive water prices way up, even though robotic doesn't require water. I am hopeful more content will get added to the game - maybe even other planets. In the campaign, the AI players are too aggressive - in the final round, it was a knock-down, drag-out fight just to loose. But I think there should also be a different campaign mode - instead of an elimination, just have an odd number of locations, then whoever has the most locations wins. This makes the campaign longer and more enjoyable. To me, I like the tutorials better than the campaign, because they have specific achievements to get, rather than just fighting enemies. That might also be a suggestion for an easy-to-create new campaign (or even story) mode - i.e. maybe at a specific location, there is an aluminum shortage, and you have to maintain your settlement against natural disasters and things while trying to stockpile that amount of aluminum. Maybe you have to get more research done than others, etc.

Thanks for the update on the icon issue.

The lines on the quarry may be part of the quarry art asset, which was updated. The buildings themselves flying into position is a temporary visual, so it will be resolved as final transportation artwork is added.

We appreciate the feedback on gameplay, and I will pass it along to Soren so that it doesn't get lost in the support topic.

Hello Joel:

Got one more piece of feedback for Soren - I really hate how the game almost stops completely whenever there is a land auction. It would be great if gameplay would continue during the auction. I almost never bid on the auctions, and just having to sit there and wait for it to be over kind of ruins the continuity of the game.
