I think this is the way they're supposed to look (sorta), but it does look like there is some art problem.

Ah. Now that you mention that and I look a bit closer, I can see it. Initially it just looked to me exactly like those spots would look if I hit the z button to remove buildings.

I spoke with Dorian - the pit is as it is supposed to be, but the surrounding/supporting buildings aren't there yet. Not sure when they're coming, but it's going to be in the future! :D
