folder Help and Quick Launch Help for windows 8

Windows 7 and 8 have discarded the ability to keep icons in folders "unsorted" like vista and xp. This is a feature that I, and I'm sure many others would greatly appreciate. I use desktop folders extensively and I seriously miss the ability to have a key icon in the bottom right of the folder away from others. I know you can set up comments and sort that way but that is not a realistic alternative. I like to have groups of icons spaced out so that it easy for me to quickly find the ones I'm looking for among related items.

In windows 8 it is possible to bring back the quicklaunch bar but way too often windows turns it back off on reboot and then when you get it back the icons are not in the desired order and have to be rearranged. This happens probably once a week and is very annoying. Also it would be great to "Lock" the quick launch bar so you don't accidentally drag an icon back out of it onto your desktop or accidentally rearrange them.  Pinning to the task bar is BS because you can't control the order of the items.

If anyone knows of a windows add-on that can do either or both of these things, please reply to this post. Thanks.
