Docklet Creation

HowTo

Hi,

So I've been using OD for a while now and I'm starting to think that I should create a docklet to better suit the use I make of it. So I thought I'd try and find out how they're created and if what I want to do with it is conceivable.

However, here's my problem: is there any indication as to how you're actually supposed to do that? WinCustomize does list some but I can't seem to find any more help on their forums than on this one (which I'm fairly certain is actually repeated there). I thought about taking a look inside another one that already exists, only to find they are DLLs so no luck there.

Does anyone know how (or where I can find out) this is done?

Cheers,

Thank you both so much, I'll have a look into it right away!

EDIT: After looking into it, unlike the OP from that thread, I'd like to build it from scratch. I'll fiddle with that for now to see if I can guess how it's done from what I can gather there but if someone has information on how to build it from the ground up and if there's a specific API or something, that'd be great :)

quoting Frogboy  August 23 2003

"Stardock has released the full Docklet SDK on how to create ObjectDock docklets. The SDK includes full documentation, source code for several example docklets, and more." ObjectDock docklet SDK now available

and this is the direct download link:  http://storage.stardock.com/files/ObjectDock_Docklet_SDK_v0.99a.zip

good luck ! ;)

It's my pleasure lepaperwan !

let me know which kind of docklet you have in mind (maybe a similar one already exists),

naturally as a skinner I'm ready to contribute to your future docklets customization with some original graphics !

I've been thinking about it for a while but since OD doesn't support right clicking menus as Windows 7 does in its taskbar, I thought about making a docklet for Steam to list games (I'm thinking favorites only, the whole list could be way to long depending of accounts).

Something similar to a flyout but instead of listing a directory it would list a category. As far as I know, that docklet has already been suggested but never made .

Anyway, it's something I plan on doing on my free time so if it's possible I think I'll have it done by the end of November or sooner. I'll let you know if it's made so you can skin it.

Thanks again :)
