End of 2014 Game Release Madness

Fall is here and just a few more months of 2014 are left.  I was just looking through Steam and Amazon and there are a bunch of upcoming releases during this time, and really way too many for me.

Just some as an example:

  • Far Cry 4
  • Assassin's Creed Unity
  • Civilizations: Beyond Earth
  • Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
  • Alien: Isolation

There's plenty more not counting some great games that have been released recently.  Are any of these some must-haves, or have you pre-ordered any yet?  I'll probably hold on off most, but maybe pickup Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed Unity as they some of my top favorites.

Anything you are especially looking forward to?

Shadows of Mordor looks interesting, though I'm waiting for reviews.

Initial reviews aren't looking that great. Destructoid gave it a 6.5 and another (can't remember) gave it a 6/10.

That's a shame.  I haven't looked at anything yet.

No interest in AAA first-person story-driven stealth-based dynamic blah-blah-blah action RPGs.  The industry seems to crank them out on an assembly line.

On the other hand, Wasteland 2 has absolutely blown me away.

Pillars of eternity and broken age part 2 (im a backer) are both slated for december.

I'm not really interested in any other games. I buy games when they go on sale and my backlog is so large anyways.

I am having fun with wasteland 2 but i might wait a bit for patches and dlc. I only have time to play a game once these days... Sigh

I just read the Destructoid review.  It was an odd.  They said nothing but good things about the game and how well it was done except that the nemesis system is gimmicky and can get tedious.  It's a little jarring to reach the bottom and see a 6 actually, because the text of the review doesn't read like a 6.

I pre-ordered Beyond Earth...Firaxis has really high standards for quality and has consistently supported their titles well after release...the game does have a few problems, what game doesn't?  It is one of the most enjoyable SP experiences, and I expect no less from Beyond Earth...

That, and it's a spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri, which is still my favorite game of all time...

I am overloaded myself as well, I may have to hire an assistant to play games for me...

Nothing of interest to me, sadly. Good for all of you, who have something to look forward to.

I just read it and I think a 6 fits the best of all grades.
