Block update with group policy?

One of my customers has 14 PC's with start8 (14 licenses) I would like to block the update notification with group policy because these users aren't administrators anyway so they can't install and the notification just gets annoying.

Can you advise what GP setting (even if its just a registry change) I can use for this. Thanks very much

I'm in the same boat, I bought the subscription service for on my home pc and laptop, the subscription has run out but I keep getting pestered about updates even though I've tried disabling automatically check for updates (start8 and fx).

Also have sold to quite a few of our clients who moved to Windows 8 a heap of workstations and a couple of terminal servers and all are locked down via group policy so the updates can only be applied by an administrator, so we don't really want notifications popping up all the time for users, it's just plain annoying!

Anyone have any ideas? I checked the provided group policy template and I can't see an option to disable updates / notifications there, so was thinking maybe some sort of registry setting?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, love the software but these update notifications are driving me nuts!

This is what you need: (test first!!)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8

String: AllowAutoUpdateCheck
StrinyType: REG_SZ
Value: 0
