Firefox 32.0 Update (September 2014) - Interface Corruption

Stardock Software Conflict

Hi,

I am experiencing a problem with the latest Firefox version (32.0) released September 2014 and what I imagine is a software conflict with WindowBlinds (although it could be any of the Stardock software packages). I have checked Stardock Central and I have the latest versions of the Stardock products I use. My OS is Windows 8.1. You can see my problem below:

New tabs in the browser become corrupted / blurred to the point the tab title becomes totally unreadable. Stardock will need to fix this issue with an update. If anyone else is experiencing this issue or has a suggestion on how to fix it in the mean time please post it below.

Many thanks,

Ancient.

Tried FF32. no problems with Chrome here, must be on your end  :cylon:

I can confirm the same problem with the latest version of WB and FF. Adding an Exception under settings>Per Application>Do not skin fixed the problem.

Quoting taviscostik, reply 2

Adding an Exception under settings>Per Application>Do not skin fixed the problem.
End of taviscostik's quote
Was my suggestion in the other thread ^_^

I have the same problem, with the version prior to 32 as well

same here, despite excluding FF from windowblinds it still corrupts the minimize, maximize & close buttons.

adding a FF theme do not solve this either.

I can confirm the same issue on windows 7. Windows 8 is fine.

Windowblinds firefox problem:

I tried fixing it with by trying themes, not all of them work!

If you use a complete theme like this one https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/ft-deepdark/?src=cb-dl-users  , then it works because this theme changes the glass upperside to solid  wich resolves the problem!

Sadly it won't be skinned, but it's nice and BLACK.

Hope this will help others

Bye!

I have the same problem with Firefox 33.0.2, it's really irritating. I can solve it by 'restoring' the window and then I can make it almost take up the full screen, and it's okay - but as soon as I maximise it, the tabs smear as soon as I scroll them, and become completely unreadable. Also, the tabs are completely transparent when the window is restored, which is also pretty irritating (makes it hard to read them).

I have the same version of firefox and have windowblinds running without a problem.

But I do have the title bar showing on firefox which may make the difference for me.

Thanks WinMonster2 - your comment above 'But I do have the title bar showing on firefox which may make the difference for me' fixed the problem for me!

It's "you're", not "your", but thanks very much, WinMonster2, that fixed it for me. Why is the title bar turned off by default in Firefox anyway? More UI stupidity.

Yes I have the same problem , I have windows 8.1 and lastest WB and with FF 33 i have unvisible top bar and messed up tabs, after install FF32 all are well, so i wait until ff34 comes and see if fixed otherwise install FF 32 again.

There is some sort of conflict between WindowsBlinds and Firefox!

Here's my workaround I was able to figure out that allows me to use WB & FF without missing the title bar window buttons.

This is Firefox version 33.0 with WindowBlinds version 8.06 on Windows 8.1 Pro 64Bit

Instructions:

0.) If you excluded Firefox in WindowsBlinds you should remove the exclusion as your skin will work with FF.

1.) Install Firefox add-on "Classic Theme Restorer"

2.) Create a file named "CTRpreferences.txt" and paste the data below into the file and save anywhere you want.

3.) In Firefox goto your add-on page and click on the option button for add-on "Classic Theme Restorer".

4.) On the Classic Theme Restorer config window click the bottom left button "Settings" and select "Import preferences".

5.) Now you need to point to your saved file "CTRpreferences.txt" and select open.

6.) Classic Theme Restorer is now configured!

7.) On the Firefox address field type    about:config    and enter.

8.) Confirm with the warning by clicking the button "I'll be careful, ..."

9.) A long list appears with all the internal settings of Firefox. Search for the preference name line "browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar".

10.) The value has to be set to "false". You can double click on the line and it should change over to false.

11.) If you have FF menu bar turned on you might still see an issue with the background in that case you can turn off the menu bar and try using the icon "Open menu" next to the home button to get to your menu commands.

Hope this will help some of you dealing with WB with FF tabs and title menu bar not being displayed correctly.

Perhaps someone will find a solution for the menu bar line to show the correct color instead of being transparent.

James

"But I do have the title bar showing on firefox which may make the difference for me."

Took me a little while to find this - open the Firefox menu, choose 'customise' , then click on the 'titlebar' button, bottom left.
