Monitor mismatch - start button location, menu size

Start button on external monitor (#2 in line), start menue too big (outside screen)

Hi,

I use Start8 on two machines and both have issues that might have the same cause, popped up after the last auto update:

#1

Dell XPS M1530 occasionally connected to Dell monitor. The Start-button is always on the external screen, even if the screen is turned off. The internal monitor of the Dell laptop is registered as primary monitor in all the settings. Why wouldn't Start8 recognize that and how do I get my Start-button back? As everybody knows, Windows 8 is useless without that little button of yours.

#2

Toshiba Satellite C55 A1MW occasionally connected to LG monitor. When I open the start button menue, the top of the menue will be outside the monitor and thus invisible. That is an issue when I e.g. look for Notepad, a file, whatever - search results are displayed in the top end of the menue, outside of the screen, and unclickable. Renders the internal Windows search unusable.

I appreciate any help.

Seriously, nobody has any ideas? Customer care is good here, so I might just ask directly - but I was hoping somebody could come up with tips.

Problem #1 I got to work around a bit, by displaying a start button on both monitors. But...occasionally, it shows the unusable standard Windows 8 menue with the tiles instead of the popup start menue. Not sure why and how, as the preferences clearly state it should show the normal menue - and then stick to it.

When clicking the Start8 button or using the windows key?  If it is the latter, make sure you do not have this checked:
