I like Tiles, have duly purchased it, and am running it under Windows 8.1 Pro; however, I want to report a couple of issues that I have with the program, as follows:
1) Tiles64.exe seems always to figure on my Top Process Monitor screen, so I used Resource Monitor to check out its average CPU resource usage. It varies of course, but is always around 5% CPU, even when Tiles is not actually in use, but hidden on the left-hand side of my screen. This is my main point: even when I am not invoking the program, and it is just showing a pixel line down the LHS, it is still chewing up 5% CPU. Shouldn't it be suspended at this point, or at least just ticking over? Some doubtful programming here.
2) Responsiveness: As I said above, I keep Tiles hidden at the left, so I move the cursor to touch the LHS when I want to invoke it. Using the trial version, Tiles_setup.exe, that I downloaded from http://download.cnet.com, the responsiveness was good; the Tiles window sprang out straight away. After I purchased it, I downloaded the latest version, Tiles_1.10_setup_sd.exe, from My Account. Immediately I noticed that the responsiveness was not as good; in fact I had to fully uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller Pro and then reboot and reinstall before I could get it to work properly. Even now, sometimes it pops out, sometimes it doesn't, and it usually takes a couple of seconds to react - which is not good when it's using 5% CPU anyway!
Please put these faults on your bugs list, and I look forward to finding them resolved in the not-too-distant future.
