Tech buying.
Tech buying.
Can there be a way to buy techs or percentages of them in some way from the tech tree directly.
More ways to do things is strategic.

Tech brokering will be in as far as I have seen in pod casts but is not in Alpha yet.
Yes. But when you have think about it you can buy almost everything or negotiate anything, so this just adds to a economics strategy and brings more choices.
Btw I like to play economically. I like buying and selling stuff so I would like to be able to rush buy techs.

We were able to do that in Gal Civ II. If you had the credits you could buy out whatever the AI of the other Civs had available. Purchasing power was given for trading your techs for theirs but you could just buy if you had enough money.
I preferred to buy another civ to declare war on someone who was a threat and get multiple other Civs to dog-pile on the aggressor.
You can basically do that in the game already with the economy slider. If you want a tech quickly you throw your power behind research. It also has a good balance in that by doing that it costs you both credits per turn and production.
If you could just buy out technologies like you can construction projects it would make researching and research building pretty worthless and actually decrease the amount of strategy needed in the game rather than increase it as the OP believes.
Some people would say this isn't really different from tech trading anyway, but with tech trading the price is dynamic and the tech availability is more limited. So it has factors against it to help balancing out how powerful tech trading is.
I think DARCA is after the ability to just pay $X, and get any (currently research-able) tech next turn. Not trade for it from another Civ.
Personally, I don't want that. In reality, you can't just throw money up in the air and get a technology back down.
More importantly, I think it breaks a game balance issue.
Right now, you have to research tech - if you can just buy the tech from thin air, then there's very little incentive to ever build any research buildings - instead, you overload on economic ones. That way, you get lots of money, which is more versatile than research points, being able to buy tech from others, buy buildings or ships, and (under this proposal) by brand new tech no one else has.
Under the present scheme, you can NEVER get whole-ly new tech (i.e. something no one else has) unless you research it yourself. In addition, if you're into tech trading heavily (and spending lots of money doing it), then there is the threat that warfare and/or upset neighbors will not trade with you, under any circumstances. Both of these limit your ability to get tech. And that's a good thing. Being able to purchase outright tech break this, and I think severely hurts the game balance.
yes that's what I'm saying. Rush buy techs. No civs required.
its a strategy and people like me would like this. I like to play a economic game so its a bonus not a unbalance to me since I would use it and love it. Some people build factories, some build research centers, some go for diplomacy techs, I want to bring my strategy in more exciting areas of the game and expand on options.

I agree it would completely eliminate the need for any building other then economy buildings towards the late game (ATM 0.30) your manufacturing is wasted since you can only build one ship or building per shipyard / planet per turn but any excess economy can be used somewhere else so.
as it stands right now manufacturing buildings are not worth it compared to economy buildings if you make research available through purchase then anyone would be stupid to play any style but economic buildigs
money strategys are nice though, I would imagine the cost to be ten times the price if that matters.
Also just to say it, the first time ship buying or improvement buying introduced there some form of opposition most likely, saying everyone would do it and not build anything anymore.
At least someone read this at SD and people at home and considered it. So I feel ok if its a ify idea. ![]()
