if i press windows key it appears but if i click where it should be, the default windows 8 start appears.
Have you accidentally set the Start button image to something invisible, or disabled it showing the button on the main taskbar? This can be set on the desktop page in the Start8 configuration screen.
Have you checked the desktop tab (4th option on the left list) to see if you told it to hide the start button?
That's the usual reason why the button is missing.
