WB 8.05 and my GUI

Oh, they don't like each other.

Hello, Stardock and Forumites!

I just bought 8.05 for my new Windows 7 x64 Ultimate tower today (5/20/14) and I was introduced to a new problem, one I haven't seen since messing with Windowblinds 2 or 3.

Upon initial installation and registration, the first skin I tried removed my start bar. I thought, "Okay, I'm an idiot, I was supposed to restart before playing with the new program."

I restart, and as a result my entire user interface is gone. I'd show you a picture, but you can just imagine a cursor sitting in the middle of a completely black screen. Fortunately, my Windows-fu isn't completely rusty, and I got to the safe mode, and uninstalled. I have tried this twice now, with immediate removal of all GUI elements as a result.

My laptop, which had 7.something.something and an update to 8.05, has had no issue whatsoever, and is still themed-up.

I must be missing something with regard to installation requirements. If anyone knows of some quick "check-this"s, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance!

And, of course, I just found a bunch of people having the same issue with 8.05 on the sticky release. I guess I'm just going to have to wait.

Still, if anyone has heard of anything, please let me know!

Thanks!

There should be no issue with 8.05, there was an issue with an optional windows update for Windows 8.1 with WB 8.04 though.

Hmmmm. .I'm continually having issues with 8.05, even with downloading and installing my previous version 7.41, and then upgrading to the 8.05, I still can't have a GUI after I set up 8.05.

And with my laptop, there's a little evidence things are different, in the sense that one of the themes I'm using, "Hardwood," isn't drawing the dividers in the start menu correctly anymore - there's gaps where there should be lines.

I'm still working on a solution, but I'm still open to suggestions.

Thanks!
