Taskbar won't stay on secondary monitor when switching users

I can't say for sure if this is a Start8 problem (and I suspect that it's not), but I don't have a Win 8 system without Start8 installed to test.

So with 2 users, switching between users resets the location of the taskbar.  If anyone has experienced this behavior or can think of a solution, it would definitely be greatly appreciated!

Here's my repro script:

- log in USER1

- move taskbar to secondary monitor

- log off USER1

- log in USER2

- move taskbar to secondary monitor

- log off USER2

- log in USER1.   [TASKBAR IS ON SECONDARY MONITOR AS EXPECTED]

- switch users; log in USER 2.  [TASKBAR IS ON SECONDARY MONITOR AS EXPECTED]

- switch users to USER1.  [TASKBAR IS ON PRIMARY MONITOR - bug]

- switch users to USER2.  [TASKBAR IS ON PRIMARY MONITOR - bug]

It seems to be switching from one active user to another active user that resets the taskbar location.  This is a fairly easily reproduced issue, and seems like a genuine problem.

The taskbar position is something the OS is in charge of so I would suspect what you are seeing isn't linked to Start8 itself.

Certainly we are not intentionally repositioning the taskbar.

To test without Start8 you can run Start8Tweak in the Start8 installation folder and disable the Start8 service and then logout and log back in again.  There will be no Start8 running until you reopen Start8Tweak and enable the service again.

One thought, could it be that the OS thinks the secondary monitor is being unplugged somehow on the switch and that's why things reset?

Yep, it certainly exhibits the behavior of re-detecting the displays.  Just so very odd that it does...

Thanks for the tip for disabling Start8.
