I like the way the 1.14 beta works.  Pretty slick adding a window option to the titlebar when Apps  are maximized.

If you can, you might give an option just to turn off the titlebar all together since MS didn't give us one.  I assume you have figured this out since you have added the window option to it and disabled it when an App is windowed.

That said, I have had some issues:

1) Sometimes the windowed apps remain highlighted on the taskbar even though I closed them.  This is an issue you have mentioned above.

2) Sometimes I see two icons on the taskbar for an App, the new one, as expected, and the old ModernMix icon shows up at the end of the taskbar icons.  Both are highlighted.

3) Sometimes clicking the minimize button on a windowed App and nothing happens.  I just been closing it instead.  Kind of funny behavior since the issue seems to move to the next opened app. and so on!

Pretty slick work!  Thanks!

Seeing this behavior also. For example, it happens a lot while leaving the reddhub Windows 8 app I use running. After having my windows 8 tablet's screen off for a bit, turning it back on, & unlocking the screen, two associated icons of the program show up in the taskbar.

I can second this, glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing this issue.

And I'm also having the phantom taskbar button issue as well.

So I decided to do a test.  I'm doing much of my Windows 8 testing in a virtual machine so I can wipe and reload stuff as much as I please.  So I went back to square one; a clean install of Windows 8.1 Update 1.

I reloaded Windows 8.1 and immediately installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 using the download files from Microsoft's web site.  Once that was all said and done, I then installed Start8 and ModernMIX.  I then configured the following setup.

I then opened the Microsoft Store app like so...

I then closed the Microsoft Store app using the little red X button in the upper right corner of the window.

And what happens, the taskbar icon for the Microsoft Store app is still there even after I closed the app.

Now, I have absolutely nothing else installed on this virtual machine.  Just Windows 8.1 Update 1, Start8, and ModernMIX.  Nothing else.  Seriously, those are the only things installed in this virtual machine to try and narrow down where the problem is.  This has got to be a bug in ModernMIX, there is no other explanation that I have for this behavior.  The icon should not be there after I closed the Microsoft Store app but it is.

Unfortunately when we install it in VMs or on clean machines it works perfectly every single time and as best we can tell that's the case for the majority of customers.

We do have an updated build coming soon with some small tweaks to see if they help or not.

What we do know is the bug itself appears to be in the OS as the application is not left running in task manager and we suspect it is a timing related issue.

BTW which virtual machine software are you using?

VirtualBox.

An interesting note here.  When I click on the RED X  it closes, shows closed on the task bar but, it is still listed in Task Manager.  Of course I am running on full up machine.  This does not happen and everything works as expected if I use ModernMix control overlay.

That's normal.  Any Microsoft provided close options other than drag to the bottom of the screen and hold for a few seconds will just hide the window rather than close the app.

VirtualBox.

We have been using VMware, so I will get a VirtualBox install setup.

Is yours configured to have 3D acceleration or not?

It occurs to me, how are you launching these apps?  From taskbar pin, from Start8 (or similar), or from the Windows 8 menu?

Whatever driver installation is default for VirtualBox is what was installed.  I think I have 3D acceleration enabled.  I'm launching it via the pinned icon on the Start8 Start Menu.

I believe we just put up a newer beta, so that's worth trying to see if it helps.

I downloaded the new beta and installed it.  I'm happy to report that we have a winner here.  Consider that bug dead!
