Odd thing on new laptop

I got a new lenovo thinkpad.  Of course I had to get start8 on it as soon as I could.  I have the same settings on it that I have on my desktop work station.  Quite often the on the right of the screen the settings fly out will appear with the status box on the left.  Then it goes to tile land and I have to escape. This only happens if the the cursor is on the right edge.  I can run the cursor up and down the right and it never triggers it. 

 

Anybody see this before.  I am on 1.4

That may be your touchpad on the laptop.  Some drivers have options to engage various win8 features.

On most laptop touchpads, you need to disable a feature called "Edge Swipes" (or something similar, depending on the brand of touchpad & driver). Go to the Control Panel's Mouse applet & you can disable it from there.
