Changed all planet types to allow for 2 star bases, only some planets work while playing

I changed the Real Capital Ships mod for Diplomacy v1.37 to allow 2 star base per planet type. While playing some planets will allow 2, while some still only allow 1. I have double checked the files, compared them one to another and the changes are exact in each folder: maxStarBaseCountPerPlayer 2    Not sure why this is happening. Any suggestions to try and find my error? Game plays fine, just some planets allow and some do not.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Which planets are causing you problems?  Is it an asteroid/non asteroid thing?  A colonizable/non colonizable thing?

I tried something like this back in, well, either Entrenchment or Diplomacy, I forget which.  As I recall I had to tinker with 'random' planets a bit more to make them work.  What excately it was I can't remember, its been too long ago now.

Similar to Seleuceia's question above, are you using in-game maps, map designer maps, or galaxy forge maps?

Let me compound the issue by asking this: Do you run any other mods (other than Real Cap Ships)?  What I'm thinking of is 7 Deadly Sins, or anything that would have custom planetary bonuses that effect starbase/tac/log slots at a planets.  Perhaps its one of those 'overwriting' your mod.

You did mention that you modified the Real Cap Ships mod.  Perhaps Real Cap Ships isn't affecting these planets for some reason.  Try making your own mod for the 2 SBs at each planet, and running them side-by-side.

And when in doubt, play VL, they're above the need for defending planets after all. :P

EDIT: Heading off the grammar police...

I do have a simple 2 starbase mod I can run along with RCS. I will try that.

The issue was not consistent across all planet types. For instance some asteroids allowed 2 starbases and some did not. Same with Terran. No Ice Planets would allow more than the standard one SB. I did not find an Ice Planet file in RCS, so modified the Volcanic Planet and renamed it Ice Planet. That really got things buggy. I like to play against many overpowered AI so liked having tougher planet defenses to survive the early part of the game. I tried just beefing up the one SB and the other seige orbital platforms but the game crashed upon enabling the mod. I am really new to modding and don't have the background for understanding the how and why it works or does not work.

Thank you for your responses. I will keep tinkering. Even getting my 'mod' to work on some planets was exciting to me.

There is definitely an ice planet entity file. Are you modifying all of the planet entity files? There are a few entity files for each planet type, for example, there's the normal ice planet file but then there's also an ice planet "fair" file. It sounds like you're not editing all the necessary files so you end up with some planets that you have edited allowing more than one star base and the others that have slipped through the net only allowing one.

Copy all the planet entity files from the main sins gameinfo folder then you can't go wrong.
