The "Gift This" Conundrum

I cannot understand the "Gift This" option.

I have tried to "Gift This" for customers computers, but when I try to enter a serial number, it requests a Stardock account name and password.

So, which Stardock account name and password is it referring to? Surely, I haven't got to use my details on other people's computers.

I have tried pressing "I only have a serial number" button, yet it still asks for a Stardock account email and password.

Also. I had to use one of my email addresses to "Gift This" or I wouldn't have been able to retrieve the keys for the customer.

You guys make it so hard to purchase software for genuine customers. Can't I simply enter the serial key?

Can you please assist?

Kind regards.

The installation should be activated using the account the key was gifted to, not yours.

If you are performing an installation on someone else's behalf (and corporate sales does not have any solutions suitable for you), you can create a new account for them using a one-off free webmail address, and provide them with the login details for it. If they already have an account with us, they could later have support combine it with their existing account if so desired.

I have just tried creating an account for the customer and it tells me that the serial is already registered to another account.

Can you please fix for me?

Let me know what details you need?

Thanks.

If it is too hard to fix, give me a refund on my purchase and I will re-purchase using the email address that I created for the customer.

This is really messy having to create an email and Stardock account for a customer every time. There has to be an easier way.

The corporate page was useless for doing anything unless you are a charity organization.

Please let me know what details you need for my refund.

Thanks.

I'm reordering for the customer. Please cancel my previous order. Contact me for details.

Thanks.

Activation will always require an account to be created, so either you have to create the account for them when you activate the software, or you install the software (which will make it prompt for activation on bootup), and provide your customer with the serial to use along with instructions (which is pretty simple, unlock button -> I only have a serial number->create account)

Unfortunately a serial has to be tied to an account or there would be nothing to stop multiple people using the same serial numbers.

If you wish to bulk purchase Start8 serials you can do so from Corporate sales and I am sure they would be happy to help if you e-mail them.

Hi Neil.

But giving a customer a serial requires them to use an email address which will be mine, and not theirs.

Also. What email address does corporate sales require to be used?

As you said, an email address must be tied to each serial.

PS: Have I been reimbursed for my previous purchases that are now not going to be used?

They don't have a great registration solution for corporate customers either. It still requires registration with an email address, password and serial number. I don't have any other software product in my company that requires this. It also makes it impossible to include Start8 in a software image.
