Can't remove start8 button after uninstall

from Stardock Forums

I installed trial version of Start8 1.31 then uninstalled using the built in uninstaller but was not able to remove the start button as shown


Please help me get rid of this. I don't have any other bit of start8 (or Stardock)left on my Pc. But this crap doesn't go away.please help

What version of Windows are you using?

What happens when you select the button?

That looks like the Windows 8.1 button in which case that's nothing to do with us.  Windows 8.1 does not have an option to disable that button (though Start8 itself is able to)

I am  on Windows 8.1 x64.

When I left click, it takes me to Windows 8 menu. On right click I get,

Reinstalled Start8 v 1.31

Sorry but that is the OS button.  That's also the OS right click menu.  Your later screenshot shows the Start8 button which as you can see is not the same.

Here is how I solved a similar problem. Go to the Start8tweak.exe folder in C:\ProgramFiles\Stardock\Start8 and place a check mark against ''Start8 should be enabled in this user account''. Hope this helps.
