Start Button Changed

Just curious, I have Start8 installed on a machine that had W8 installed and then I updated to W8.1 after Start8 was installed on W8.  The Start Button Icon on that machine is a Circle with the Windows Flag with Red, Green, Blue and Yellow squares.  I installed Window 8.1 on another machine and then installed Start8.  On that machine I get a Square with four gray boxes.  I have looked for the "Windows Flag" icon but it is not readily apparent to me on where to find it.  Why the difference in the Start Icons?  I'm pretty much running with Start8 defaults.  Can I get the Windows Flag somewhere - like copy it from the first machine?

This happened to me too.  I had a pretty cool windows looking button on my Window 8 machine.  After upgrading

to Windows 8.1 the Icon changed.   And I couldn't get it back.  Very uncool guys.

Microsoft were uncomfortable with the use of the Windows flag which forced a change.

If you were using a custom image then most likely the other machine has it as installers will not remove existing files.  The images are stored in the start buttons folder off the Start8 installation folder.

If you were using the default Win8 style flag then this was never an image so cannot be copied from another machine.  You are able to use your own image if you were to obtain one as that's outside our control, but we will not supply it with the product.

So, what about Windows Blinds? I have it as well as Start8. I use Windows 8 theme with heavy personal modifications.  One thing I did not change (because I love it) is the Start8 Windows Blinds skin start button.  It's the button you have stated Microsoft is objecting to us using. So, will it be removed from Windows Blinds also whenever I finally upgrade to 8.1?  In fact, all the buttons for preset Windows 8 skins in Windows Blinds have the Microsoft flag except for one I think.  So, will all those themes change when I upgrade to 8.1? I hope not!
