[IconPackager] Icons changing on their own

For some reason, after I save a new package to replace my computer's icons, when I close the program they will change by themselves to different icons that would normally get used for something else (C Drive gets utorrent icon, Desktop gets Audio File icon, etc), and when I go to Icon Packager, I end up having to change many more icons than that to set them back to normal.

Once that is done, it doesn't seem to stick, as then it gets worse than it was before.

I have tried reinstalling Icon Packager, I have ran as an Admin.

-Purchased Object Desktop subscription

-This is the same account that is tied to that purchase

-Using Windows 8 Pro with Media Center

Also, the window is cut off when the icons are set to Medium through the Windows Personalization menu.

Edit:

New bug that I found that I think is substantially worse than the others as it goes beyond just icon issues.

I ended up using the Package Builder to start one off from scratch instead of just editing an existing one, and when I was done I saved it, and then I made a tweak and saved it as another separate package, and then the IconPackager stopped working, so I just let it site thinking it would resolve its issue or close itself.

So, I minimized it, and then forgot about it until (about 30 min later) I checked the Computer folder and saw that my C drive was down from 65 GB (SSD, total of 128 GB; 500 GB HDD for all programs and data minus Stardock's software, Windows 8, and a few programs) to 3 MB.

I traced this huge loss of space to the Users > Public > Public Documents > Stardock > IconPackager and saw that it was from the latest Icon Package and that Icon Packager hasn't closed yet, and it kept making this package bloat.

I forced IconPackager to close, and then deleted this 60+ GB Icon Package.

The other version that I made of this package (the first one) works fine, and is only 8 KB, so something went extremely wrong in IconPackager.

Edit2:

Also seems to have problems showing folders (with new icons) containing data in Fences (like with Folder Portals).

It just shows the generic folder, but any folder without any data in it look correct, and it doesn't matter what theme is chosen.

Hello "",

This is the only Stardock software that is having some problems like you have said to us and other posted in Stardock and Wincustomize forum. Also you can see other similar cases reported in this forum.

Please contact Stardock support as email or as a ticket in the website.

Note: Please do not uninstall IconPackager software because it will damage your system. Please keep it installed and solve your problems with the support team.

Bye!

The initial problem sounds like a corrupt icon cache.  The OS maintains a cache of images in order to speed explorer up and it can corrupt this which leads to the wrong icons for files showing.  This can happen without IconPackager too and Windows 8 seems to be especially sensitive in this regard.  There is an option in IconPackager to rebuild the cache file and I imagine this will fix your problem.
