'Switch User' Option Still Visible in Start8 When Group Policy Prohibits the Functionality

Hello,

In Windows 8 Pro, I have Group Policy configured to disallow 'Fast User Switching'.

This can be found at:

Administrative Templates > System > Logon > Hide Entry Points for Fast User Switching

In previous versions of Windows, this would remove the 'Switch User' option from the Start Menu as the functionality had been disabled. Start8 doesn't follow the policy however, thus 'Switch User' remains visible and selectable. Selecting the option however is the equivalent of selecting 'Lock', as Windows removes all trace of User Switching naturally.

Any way I can remove 'Switch User' from Start8 though? As it serves no function for me, I would like it to be disabled or entirely removed.

Thanks.

Hello,

Can you verify that other accuonts are not showing in the native system?

Hello Zubaz,

Yes, no other accounts show in the native system. Windows removes all traces of Fast User Switching from itself, but as Start8 is not part of the Operating System, Windows doesn't touch it. Start8 removes Logoff, Hibernate etc. when the corresponding GPO is enabled (e.g. Remove Logoff from Start), but it doesn't react to disabling Fast User Switching.

I have forwarded your report to our Development Team for their review and recommendations.

It looks like this is something we'll be addressing.

Can we get an update on this?  It is still an issue as of 1.31.
