Programs missing from Start8 that used to be there

I just got a new windows 8 computer yesterday.   Installed start8 and had some other issues besides start8 so I did a windows reset.

Initially had a folder in the programs listing for all Lenovo programs.   Ran a Lenovo utility to download and update a lot of drivers and Lenovo programs.

Now the folder that originally showed 5 Lenovo programs only shows one program.   I still can find and run the other programs from the control panel, and those programs used to be listed in the start8 list of windows programs, but now are gone.

Unistalled Start8 (and modern mix), deleted program files directory, reinstalled and still can't see the Lenovo programs.

Can't find out how to tell Start8 to redetect programs.

Start8 reads what is in the physical start menu folders on the hard drive on load and when they change, this data is not cached.  If the shortcuts have gone this is because the update you ran from Lenovo removed those shortcuts from the start menu folders.

I would imagine this changed because Windows 8 had an irritating habit of pinning any new apps to the Windows 8 start menu and customers were being confused by having all those options, so Lenovo have opted to just add the one and put the rest in the control panel.

You may be able to create shortcuts to the control panel apps and save those to the start menu folders.  The folders can be opened in explorer by right clicking the "All programs button" in the Start8 menu and picking one of the two items from the menu depending on if they would be per user or for all users  I imagine for Lenovo they would have been for all users.
