Start8 start button gone with today's update

This afternoon I installed latest Start8 update. After installation it appeared that my taskbar did not show the 'Start' button anymore. After uninstalling and installation of version 1.10 (Start8_1.10.exe) this button showed-up again. Very strange!

My Os is Windows 8 Pro.

My taskbar is on the left of my screen and I use the Quick Launch toolbar. So in my case I should "normally" have the 'Start' button at the top of my taskbar...

What is happening here?

Are you sure Start8 was even running?  Look for Start8_64.exe when on a 64 bit OS.

Also check that the setting to show / hide it on each taskbar wasn't set to have it hidden on the primary taskbar and that the image for the start button actually existed.

I re-installed latest version (I think it was 1.16) with my taskbar now 'un-hide'. After restarting however, I got the same problem: no start button on top of the taskbar with the windows logo. Using Windows explorer I looked for the file Start8_64.exe in the folder -->Program Files (x86)-->Startdock-->Start8 and saw that this file was present, as well as all other Start8_64.* files. After changing over to the 'old' version 1.10 I was happy to see that my Start button was back. A solution to this problem will be appreciated.
