Win8 Pro

Heyas,

I'm getting this problem where, when WindowBlinds is running, my file explorer windows are exhibiting the following behaviour:

1) Open a file explorer window, window is draggable

2) Attempt to close the window, the close button click animation happens, but then the window doesn't close

3) Window is now not draggable and the window control buttons in the top left are all unresponsive.

4) The only way to close the window at this point is to File -> Close or Alt+F4.

5) Any subsequent file explorer windows are now locked in place and can't be closed except via steps in 4.

Cheers.

I have the same problem.

I pin point it to happen because I use my task bar in top of the screen.

If I close the file explorer put my task bar in bottom and reopen explorer, every thing is ok.

Thanks.

Sorry to tell you this, but I'm running Win8 Pro, I tried your sequence and did not encounter any problems at all.

I'm using the Alpha Nebula theme, if you're using something different, try switching themes to confirm it's not a theme problem.

Also, you could temporarily unload WB to confirm it's a WB problem.

An update:

1) I have rebooted, problem still occurs

2) Unloading windowblinds fixes the problem

3) Reloading windowblinds causes the problem to occur straight away.

I'm also having a problem with windows blinds 8 on windows 8 pro, whenever I apply a skin the area where icons normally display is a flashing black/white and the text for each icon is scrambled until I unload wb. not at computer so cant take a screenshot at the moment. Just wondering if there is a known fix.

Same exact issue here. I tried installing the Alpha Nebula one as someone suggested but the same issue happens.

End of BIZKeT's quote

How many monitors do you have?

What version of WB?

Have either of you thought to try running Windows Explorer in separate processes?

Bring up an Explorer browser, go under View and then Options.  Under the View tab is an option labelled "Launch folder windows in a separate process."  I run Win8 x64 and don't have the problem myself although I suggest using that option as it keeps browsers from crashing your entire display instead of just the set of browsers you have running at the time.  Obviously this doesn't address any actual problem; it just prevents any problems from spreading further than need be and if it is because your taskbar is running on the top of your screen then your taskbar and your explorer windows will be in separate processes and shouldn't really affect one another.
