High CPU in idle

I've been using Start8 since 1.0 and was pretty happy. Lately though Start8 is causing very high CPU usage when the PC is in idle (screensaver active - black screen). To compare I uninstalled Start8 and tried Start Menu from Reviver. Besides a very interesting concept, the high CPU issue has disappeared and my PC is nice and cool again (handy should there be a summer this year).

I've seen reports before on this, but want to mention this issue still seems to be present with the latest 1.16 release.

Don't know as when I go out of power save mode, task manager shows only current usage. Is there a tool to log CPU/processes?

I had a similar issue with mine and after some research found that the process called SearchFilterHost was running up the CPU usage when the computer was idle.

Also check into the policies regarding system maintenance on your machine.  Lots of stuff gets launched, like defrag and disk checking, by the OS when the computer is idle.  I set most of these to run monthly or weekly instead of daily.  My machine runs lots cooler (and the battery lasts much longer).
