Can't Uninstall WindowBlinds

I just got an e-mail offering me the new Windowblinds 8 Beta. I paid 7 $ to download it, then when I tried to run it it said I had to uninstall WB7. When I tried that I got an error message saying it couldn't open the install.log file. I looked and couldn't even find a file with that name. When I googled this issue I found that it has come up numerous times but I couldn't find any solution. Is it possible to uninstall WB 7 or did I just waste 7 $. Why are they even offering a new Beta if you can't uninstall the old version ?

Thanks for your response but odnt_zapper just crashes when I run it.

Well, then.....

You can get the free version of Revo Uninstaller from here. LINK. It's all I have used for years to remove any installed software. Run it, have it scan on Moderate and delete only the items it marks in bold print. It beats the pants off of Add/Remove and will work when other methods fail.

Revo uses the programs own uninstaller, then just cleans up the mess left behind. I use it and I trust it or I wouldn't recommend it.

Or, you could wait for a support response, since I have been advised at one time....

All of Stardock's programs have a designed method of removal - that is via the 'Programs and Features' listing within Windows [or the equivalent in earlier versions of OS]. Support is thus geared around that methodology - whether or not others may themselves use a 3rd party program.

Such 3rd party programs are NOT [and cannot] be supported by Stardock and so should NOT be suggested....

So, do whatever SD feels is appropriate, that is, you should contact support at stardock dot com and let them try to assist you.

Thanks, I was able to uninstall the old version by re-installing it and then uninstalling it. A lot of effort and frustration. I do use Revo Uninstaller Pro but in this case it only worked after I had re-installed WB7. All that just for a new interface that I personally don't like as much as the old one.  7 $ just for that. I think I'll be requesting a refund and going back to the old version, it's a bit much to pay for just a new UI and no additional features. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

I think that Win 8 compatiblity is it's biggest improvement. Since I have no plans to use Win 8, that doesn't have much appeal to me either. The new UI brings it in line with the new UI in DeskScapes which may take a little getting used to but is much cleaner looking, imo.

As for other features, WB8 is still in beta so who knows what new features are yet to be added. 7 bucks sounds like a bargain to me, regardless.

I also have no plans to get Win 8 any time soon, I'm quite happy with Win 7. What I don't like about this new WB UI is that in the old one I could scroll through skins horizontally. The old UI shows a large picture of the skin and it's label. In the new UI you have to scroll vertically through skins, the previews are a lot smaller and you have to hover your mouse over the picture to read the skin label. Having the tabs for colors, textures, etc., below the preview window also seemed a lot more useful. Like you said, this looks mainly like it's intended for Win 8, for Win 7 I think the old version is still pretty good. I've been using it for over 3 years now and I guess I've kind of gotten used to it.
