[,90 BUG] Howl does not add to magic attack

contains SPOILER

My mage's attack does not get the increase when equipped with Hailstorm.

Taming the Great Wolf allows him to Howl at the beginning of battle to increase the attack of all units.   Don't know how other range weapons are affected.

It affects all units with a physical attack, whether ranged or melee, but no, not magical attacks.  Its really awesome with stacks of units ... it can make a stack of archers quite terrifying.

Bears are awesome, but if you get your hands on a champion with beastlord or a studded collar, taming the great wolf can win you the game. If you level the Great Wolf up to level 8 or 9, even crappy armies suddenly become unstoppable.

Nevermind if you tame a cave bear AND a great wolf...

Yeah, howl probably needs to be a fixed amount (like +3 attack) instead of +1 per level.  You are right that they they are the best army boosters in the game.

Fixed is boring.  Possibly a reduced amount - but its FUN to try to get one and then baby it to level it up.  They have a tendency to howl and run straight into a spear.

Maybe increase the pain in the ass level - which I don't really approve of - by making them more frail, increasing the magic resistance/resistance to beastlord.   All of which just make it cause more reload, which also is not fun.

Maybe +3, and +1 per 3 levels.  So a level 9 great wolf would tack on +6 attack (vs +9) and a level 12 would tack on +7 (vs +12).

End of Derek's quote

+3 makes sense. Still very useful, and still worth getting especially early game.

Grab one of these great wolves early on, focus on getting the alliances tech, and slap Herr wolf in an army with (now 0 upkeep) knights of asok. It's the Legendary Heroes zerg rush!
